*sigh*  I've been putting this off, hoping I'd have a day where something - you know - happened...well, Wednesday my #3 brother and his wife were in town and we went out for supper - but I left it too late for this meme because that's....pretty much all I remember...(I sometimes have the short term memory of a goldfish.  :D ).

Sooo, yesterday (August 13th):

- woke up  :D  around 6:15 - 6:30.  Did the usual:  bathroom, fed the cats, made a cup of coffee then went on the computer to check LJ and play on Facebook; took my vitamins/allergy meds (but forgot my asthma stuff - *sigh*); took a shower; got dressed; brushed my teeth.

- took the bus to work; got the dizzy bus driver again.  She tends to make mistakes when she drives the route - as in taking the wrong street, turning the wrong way, etc.  Yesterday, she almost started to head back towards the north side instead of downtown. The first day I had her, she turned left instead of right and we drove down an entirely different street.  We got to where we were going, but anybody on the part we skipped was SOL...

- Got some writing done while riding the bus.

- Got to the office building; grabbed a coffee; sighed over my Hottie in the Food Court (who, hopefully, doesn't realize I'm sighing over him because, really - am I twelve???  Apparently, yes.  :D ); headed to my office.  Got there about 9:00 a.m.

- We had an RFP close on Thursday, so I had to review a couple of proposals because there was some ambiguity about them.  That took about an hour or so.  I probably checked e-mails first...but I do that all day.

- Worked on a project invitation for my meeting with the project team in the afternoon; I read the support documentation again to see if what I'd drafted aligned with what was there.  It didn't, really, but that was because our first meeting defined the scope of the project differently.

- ummmmm...I'm sure I did other things in there...like maybe a phone call/e-mail or two...but I really couldn't tell ya (goldfish, remember?)

- Received edits from the project leader prior to our meeting; went to the meeting room early to get set up with the laptop; "accidentally" interrupted my boss' boss during a meeting.  There was a group of people in my meeting room; I knew them so I thought I'd poke my head in to see if they were going to be done on time for my meeting to start, and there was my boss' boss sitting there, hidden by the door.  *sigh*  But, told them we had the room in ten minutes, then sat in my boss' boss office area (different floors than my office, so figured I'd hang out rather than go back upstairs) and chatted with one of the ladies in his office, who I've known for years.

- Finally got into the room; the meeting started; lasted about 1.5 hours as we discussed process, issues, details/specifics of the project invitation, etc., etc..

- Got back upstairs about 3:45; my boss was still there so I filled him in on the interesting things that came up during my meeting.

- Signed off the cover memo for the RFP that closed on Thursday; double-checked all the evaluation packages to make sure they were complete; told my Admin Support that her counterpart (who wasn't in yesterday) can deliver the packages on Monday morning.

- Worked on the edits to the project invitation until 5:00 - 5:15 before finally giving up the battle and playing on the Internet until 5:30.

- Went shopping; bought hot chocolate, instant coffee, Archie comics, and Season 3 of Get Smart.  I'd actually wanted Season 2 of Fringe (because I want to watch season 3 this year and I missed all of season 2).  Anyway, not due to be released until September 14th.

- Took the bus home.  Read Archie comics instead of doing any writing.

- Made something to eat (instant soup noodles - because yes, I'm still twelve even in my eating habits); read my Archie comics; watched MASH (the movie) while I typed up everything I'd written for the last five days.  Yesterday's stuff is still to be typed.  Was also amused by the cats because I was alone in my bedroom, typing and watching TV until about 9:00ish, and then both cats show up (together); plop themselves down against my legs (together) and proceed to snuggle with each other while totally ignoring me - unless I moved.  If one left the bed the other one would watch out the bedroom door; if they lost sight of the other one, they had to go find them.  They were pretty much joined at the hip last night... *shakes head*

- Went to sleep about 11:30-12:00.

Rinse, lather, repeat - and you've pretty much got the story of my life.  LOL.  Well, except for the shopping bits.

It sounds like you have an office job that's actually kind of interesting and different. Every one I've ever had has been so awfully boring it might as well have left me in tears.

And your cats. Holy cow. Cats being cute are adorable :)

Ah, the things I could tell you if it wasn't for that darn oath of confidentiality!! :D

My job certainly has its moments - the funny thing is, I'm not usually working on only one procurement document at a time, so I'm not sure how one little project invitation took up so much time...

And yes, cats being cute are adorable...the only thing that saves them when they're attacking my feet... O.O

I like reading this kind of thing. It gives me more of a background feel for your day. :)

Thanks! I sometimes wish it wasn't quite so routine (until it isn't of course). :D

Quotes

"All right," said Susan. "I'm not stupid. You're saying humans need...fantasies to make life bearable."

REALLY? AS IF IT WAS SOME KIND OF PINK PILL? NO. HUMANS NEED FANTASY TO BE HUMAN. TO BE THE PLACE WHERE THE FALLING ANGEL MEETS THE RISING APE.

"Tooth fairies? Hogfathers? Little --"

YES. AS PRACTICE. YOU HAVE TO START OUT LEARNING TO BELIEVE THE LITTLE LIES.

"So we can believe the big ones?"

YES. JUSTICE. MERCY. DUTY. THAT SORT OF THING.

-- Susan and Death in Hogfather by Terry Pratchett

---------------------

"And no practical definition of freedom would be complete without the freedom to take the consequences. Indeed, it is the freedom upon which all the others are based."

-- Lord Vetinari in Going Postal by Terry Pratchett

---------------------

They thought the Library was a dangerous place because of all the magical books, which was true enough, but what made it really one of the most dangerous places there could ever be was the simple fact that it was a library.

-- Guards! Guards! by Terry Pratchett

---------------------

As a wizard, it was something that Ponder had only before encountered in acorns: a tiny soundless voice which said, yes, I am but a small, green, simple object - but I dream about forests.

-- Interesting Times by Terry Pratchett

---------------------

In the 24th century, there will be no hunger. There will be no greed. And every child will know how to read.

-- Gene Roddenberry, as repeated by Jonathan Frakes in the documentary How William Shatner Changed the World

---------------------

We've got two lives, one we're given and the other one we make
And the world won't stop, and actions speak louder
Listen to your heart, and what your heart might say
Everything we got, we got the hard way.

-- Mary Chapin Carpenter, The Hard Way from the album Come On, Come On

---------------------

Cause when they own the information, oh
They can bend it all they want.

-- John Mayer, Waiting on the World to Change from the album Continuum

---------------------

Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says, "I'll try again tomorrow."

-- Mary Anne Radmacher, as seen in Uncle John's Bathroom Reader Tales to Inspire

---------------------

I never loved the soldier
Until there was a war.
Or thought about tomorrow
'til my baby hit the floor.
I only talk to God
When somebody's about to die.
I never cherished freedom
Freedom never cries.

-- Five for Fighting, Freedom Never Cries from the album Two Lights

---------------------

It may sound absurd: but don't be naive
Even heroes have the right to bleed
I may be disturbed: but won't you concede
Even heroes have the right to dream

-- Five for Fighting, Superman (It's Not Easy) from the album American Town

---------------------

Had a dream last night took a time travellin' ride
Back to my childhood where those monsters reside
They snack on innocence and dine on self-esteem
But I like to be in touch with what makes me scream
Vampires, mummies and the Holy Ghost
These are the things that terrify me the most.
No alien, psychopath or MTV host
Scares me like vampires, mummies and the Holy Ghost.

-- Jimmy Buffett, Vampires, Mummies and the Holy Ghost from the album Fruitcakes

---------------------

"I want to believe that... the dead are not lost to us. That they speak to us... as part of something greater than us - greater than any alien force. And if you and I are powerless now, I want to believe that if we listen, to what's speaking, it can give us the power to save ourselves."

-- Fox Mulder, The X-Files from the episode The Truth, pt. 2
