*waves sheepishly*

I hadn't realized how long it's been since I posted something (anything).  I'm still here!!! :)

I've been basically struggling with the plot line for the next set of letters for Oasis - or rather, I already knew what Big Events Were Happening - the main questions were when, and what were the relationships at the time...I believe I've now got the timing issue sorted out and (if so) then I have The Plot for the next year and a half of letters.  :D  Which will hopefully mean I can get them finished and posted over the next few weeks.

I've also been distracted by a new shiny ship:  Jeff/Annie in a show called Community.  I was thoroughly distracted by the hotness of their kisses - and I've been trying to get "caught" in the show.  For those who don't know, it's a half hour comedy show on Thursday nights from NBC.  Sadly, I'm not (yet?) hooked although I've certainly laughed at some of the episodes and I do have season 1 on DVD (season 2 has just started) so I'm hoping to get all caught up on it.  The bad part is it's on against Bones...BONES!!!  And as cute as I find Joel McHale, really - against David Boreanaz???  Ummmm....sorry, Joel...I compensated last week by flipping back and forth with the end result of not really see either show. :(  While I taped Bones as well, I haven't watched it because I also taped Fringe and I don't want to get spoiled yet, because...

I bought the second season of Fringe and if I can ever find my seaon 1 DVDs, I'll get caught up, and then I can start watching season 3...if anyone knows where I put season 1, please let me know!!!  (The truly sad part about this whole misplaced season thing?  I.  Live.  Alone.  I can't even blame somebody else for moving them or anything.  *sighs miserably*)

Bottom line - I'm going to have to explore the online option for my shows, I think.  :(  Or maybe Bones is being shown in Canada on Wednesdays still...in which case, the conflict won't be there anymore.  Yay!!  Oh.  Except...

Skeet Ulrich's new series (Law & Order:  LA) airs on Wednesdays.  I watched the first(?) ep last night and yep - it's Law & Order (which isn't a bad thing).  I do have to say, though...I kinda prefer Skeet when he's kinda scruffy looking...mmmmmmmm....scru-u-u-u-fffffyyyyy... mmmmmmm .

*ahem*

Where was I?

Anyway, yeah - LO:LA not bad if you like the L&O formula.

In other news...my doctor diagnosed me with nothing more serious than a Vitamin D deficiency and prescribed 1000 units a day.  I've been taking them since the beginning of September and I have to say - I feel much, much, MUCH better.  Not as bone-deep exhausted and my depression is lifting more and more every day.  I'm surprised, but I'm not really sure why since I've suffered with SAD for most of my life...and that's tied to the amount of sunlight we see and are exposed to during the winter months...which is where we get most of our vitamin D from...duuuhhh!!  I'm not always the brightest bulb in the light socket, I'm afraid.

Finally, I'm getting geared up to go to Vegas at the end of the month (whooooo!  hooooooo!!!) AND for the start of NaNoWriMo (what to write, what to write....).

Happy belated birthday wishes to seren_ccd (I thought of you during the tag to Community's season 2 premiere; if you haven't already seen it, you'll understand when you do!) and to tanaquific (I still see the posts by you and scribbler even if I haven't commented in far, far too long).

Now that I'm feeling better, I'm planning on (once again) being more active both in my own writing and in reading/leaving feedback on those stories I really liked.

...and this is really long...and I need to eat supper and get ready for my shows (will the excitement ever stop???  :D )

Quotes

"All right," said Susan. "I'm not stupid. You're saying humans need...fantasies to make life bearable."

REALLY? AS IF IT WAS SOME KIND OF PINK PILL? NO. HUMANS NEED FANTASY TO BE HUMAN. TO BE THE PLACE WHERE THE FALLING ANGEL MEETS THE RISING APE.

"Tooth fairies? Hogfathers? Little --"

YES. AS PRACTICE. YOU HAVE TO START OUT LEARNING TO BELIEVE THE LITTLE LIES.

"So we can believe the big ones?"

YES. JUSTICE. MERCY. DUTY. THAT SORT OF THING.

-- Susan and Death in Hogfather by Terry Pratchett

---------------------

"And no practical definition of freedom would be complete without the freedom to take the consequences. Indeed, it is the freedom upon which all the others are based."

-- Lord Vetinari in Going Postal by Terry Pratchett

---------------------

They thought the Library was a dangerous place because of all the magical books, which was true enough, but what made it really one of the most dangerous places there could ever be was the simple fact that it was a library.

-- Guards! Guards! by Terry Pratchett

---------------------

As a wizard, it was something that Ponder had only before encountered in acorns: a tiny soundless voice which said, yes, I am but a small, green, simple object - but I dream about forests.

-- Interesting Times by Terry Pratchett

---------------------

In the 24th century, there will be no hunger. There will be no greed. And every child will know how to read.

-- Gene Roddenberry, as repeated by Jonathan Frakes in the documentary How William Shatner Changed the World

---------------------

We've got two lives, one we're given and the other one we make
And the world won't stop, and actions speak louder
Listen to your heart, and what your heart might say
Everything we got, we got the hard way.

-- Mary Chapin Carpenter, The Hard Way from the album Come On, Come On

---------------------

Cause when they own the information, oh
They can bend it all they want.

-- John Mayer, Waiting on the World to Change from the album Continuum

---------------------

Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says, "I'll try again tomorrow."

-- Mary Anne Radmacher, as seen in Uncle John's Bathroom Reader Tales to Inspire

---------------------

I never loved the soldier
Until there was a war.
Or thought about tomorrow
'til my baby hit the floor.
I only talk to God
When somebody's about to die.
I never cherished freedom
Freedom never cries.

-- Five for Fighting, Freedom Never Cries from the album Two Lights

---------------------

It may sound absurd: but don't be naive
Even heroes have the right to bleed
I may be disturbed: but won't you concede
Even heroes have the right to dream

-- Five for Fighting, Superman (It's Not Easy) from the album American Town

---------------------

Had a dream last night took a time travellin' ride
Back to my childhood where those monsters reside
They snack on innocence and dine on self-esteem
But I like to be in touch with what makes me scream
Vampires, mummies and the Holy Ghost
These are the things that terrify me the most.
No alien, psychopath or MTV host
Scares me like vampires, mummies and the Holy Ghost.

-- Jimmy Buffett, Vampires, Mummies and the Holy Ghost from the album Fruitcakes

---------------------

"I want to believe that... the dead are not lost to us. That they speak to us... as part of something greater than us - greater than any alien force. And if you and I are powerless now, I want to believe that if we listen, to what's speaking, it can give us the power to save ourselves."

-- Fox Mulder, The X-Files from the episode The Truth, pt. 2
