1. Cut credit card debt by 10%

August 28/10 – Oh, we are soooo not going to talk about this. *eyes shift guiltily* I was doing so well and then it all went to hell in a handbasket. :( October 4/2010 – I'm not even looking at this one right now... *sobs quietly* November 2/10 – Oh, God, I'm never going to get out of debt...

2. Read all the books in my house I haven’t read yet – and want to read (82/931 – 8.81%) (93/950 – 9.79%) (101/958 – 10.54%) (110/974 = 11.29%) (110/976 – 11.27%)

August 28/10 – For the first time in my life, I've hardly read ANYTHING for the last couple of months. O.O I'm not quite sure what to make of that... September 21/10 – Amazing the stuff you find when you clean your bedroom...I knew I'd read more books this year than I'd originally listed. LOL September 25/10 – Happily, I'm reading again! \o/ Of course I knew I would – I could more easily stop breathing than I could stop reading. Which is a fairly scary thing to say. :)

10. Sell house

August 28/10 – If I would just get off my ass and DO SOMETHING, I could probably have this done before October. AAARRRRGGGHHH!!!! October 4/10 – Still not off my ass; still not doing anything; still have the @$$!#$!%&&**# house...gaaahhhhh!!!!! Maybe next summer?????? :( Or maybe I'll have to try and sell it during winter – I don't freakin' know....

11. Go to Europe the year I turn 45 (2011)

September 21, 2010 – Well, this might actually happen (might!). One of my nephews has apparently been invited to play in some Polish national games on a soccer team...I'm not sure if he's on the team or if he's been invited to try out for the team, but my #2 sister has told me that, if he's playing in Poland, we're going to go watch him. Which means I'll never get out of debt.

12. Go to Manitoba to visit friends.

13. Go to BC to visit relatives.

October 4/10 – This may happen next year. The cousins I want to go and visit are having their 50th anniversary next year and I guess they're going to have a big bash. :) If I have holidays and can get the days off, then maybe this will happen!!!! Yay!!!!

Which, I suppose, isn't a bad thing. :D October 4/10 – Starting to get excited about this....I was on the site at lunchtime today and reading some of the postings in my regional forum. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.... November 2/10 – It's started...and I have no inspiration whatsoever. GAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!! November 30/10 – FAILED!!! *sobs* I can't believe it!!! 20. Participate in a creative writing class

September 21, 2010 – I've been debating this one...right now, I'm just having fun with it, and I don't want it to be work...and I'm afraid that's what a creative writing class may turn it into. It may also be a really great time and a great experience...*sigh* I just don't know.

Soooo, okay, I cleaned house on Saturday (the 18th) and I'm probably not going to do any more until Saturday. Although technically, my 2009 NaNo novel could almost count for this except that it needs major re-writing before it's done...hmmmmmmm.....*ponders* September 25, 2010 – Well, I didn't take part in the 3-Day Novel Contest – you need a witness statement at the end (!?) and that's something I need to coordinate in advance. I only thought about it...I own His Girl Friday and Bringing Up Baby and I was going to watch those as I did laundry, but I watched Community instead. :) Maybe this weekend I'll get a movie or two in...I also have to go to the library and take some out so I can make progress on this one. :)

Quotes

"All right," said Susan. "I'm not stupid. You're saying humans need...fantasies to make life bearable."

REALLY? AS IF IT WAS SOME KIND OF PINK PILL? NO. HUMANS NEED FANTASY TO BE HUMAN. TO BE THE PLACE WHERE THE FALLING ANGEL MEETS THE RISING APE.

"Tooth fairies? Hogfathers? Little --"

YES. AS PRACTICE. YOU HAVE TO START OUT LEARNING TO BELIEVE THE LITTLE LIES.

"So we can believe the big ones?"

YES. JUSTICE. MERCY. DUTY. THAT SORT OF THING.

-- Susan and Death in Hogfather by Terry Pratchett

---------------------

"And no practical definition of freedom would be complete without the freedom to take the consequences. Indeed, it is the freedom upon which all the others are based."

-- Lord Vetinari in Going Postal by Terry Pratchett

---------------------

They thought the Library was a dangerous place because of all the magical books, which was true enough, but what made it really one of the most dangerous places there could ever be was the simple fact that it was a library.

-- Guards! Guards! by Terry Pratchett

---------------------

As a wizard, it was something that Ponder had only before encountered in acorns: a tiny soundless voice which said, yes, I am but a small, green, simple object - but I dream about forests.

-- Interesting Times by Terry Pratchett

---------------------

In the 24th century, there will be no hunger. There will be no greed. And every child will know how to read.

-- Gene Roddenberry, as repeated by Jonathan Frakes in the documentary How William Shatner Changed the World

---------------------

We've got two lives, one we're given and the other one we make
And the world won't stop, and actions speak louder
Listen to your heart, and what your heart might say
Everything we got, we got the hard way.

-- Mary Chapin Carpenter, The Hard Way from the album Come On, Come On

---------------------

Cause when they own the information, oh
They can bend it all they want.

-- John Mayer, Waiting on the World to Change from the album Continuum

---------------------

Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says, "I'll try again tomorrow."

-- Mary Anne Radmacher, as seen in Uncle John's Bathroom Reader Tales to Inspire

---------------------

I never loved the soldier
Until there was a war.
Or thought about tomorrow
'til my baby hit the floor.
I only talk to God
When somebody's about to die.
I never cherished freedom
Freedom never cries.

-- Five for Fighting, Freedom Never Cries from the album Two Lights

---------------------

It may sound absurd: but don't be naive
Even heroes have the right to bleed
I may be disturbed: but won't you concede
Even heroes have the right to dream

-- Five for Fighting, Superman (It's Not Easy) from the album American Town

---------------------

Had a dream last night took a time travellin' ride
Back to my childhood where those monsters reside
They snack on innocence and dine on self-esteem
But I like to be in touch with what makes me scream
Vampires, mummies and the Holy Ghost
These are the things that terrify me the most.
No alien, psychopath or MTV host
Scares me like vampires, mummies and the Holy Ghost.

-- Jimmy Buffett, Vampires, Mummies and the Holy Ghost from the album Fruitcakes

---------------------

"I want to believe that... the dead are not lost to us. That they speak to us... as part of something greater than us - greater than any alien force. And if you and I are powerless now, I want to believe that if we listen, to what's speaking, it can give us the power to save ourselves."

-- Fox Mulder, The X-Files from the episode The Truth, pt. 2
