Another Random Update

Well, another quick random update just because...although I'm scared to actually list all my writing projects because that will likely just make me feel like an idiot AND make me panic.  And a panicking idiot is no one's idea of a good time!!  :D

Anyway (in no particular order):

1.  Yes, I'm participating in the het_bigbang .  25,000 words by September 30th, I think.  Plus it needs to be beta'd - and I've never had to do that before.  Any volunteers?  :(

2.  love_bingo is due this month and I'm writing furiously.  I was actually writing away this morning only to realize that everything I've written for the last two days may work better in my Big Bang...although a different version may still end up in this series of fics.  For those interested/curious, my bingo card is here .  All of my prompts have something written for them, but now it's a matter of meeting the word count and smoothing out the rough edges.  I've finalized five prompts so far - and yes, I'm headin' towards a black out!!!  If I would focus, I'd be done this weekend.  Of course, it may take me two weeks just to get the suckers up on LJ...  :D  But speaking of focusing....

3.  Oasis is also being worked on.  When we last left Beck/Heather, it was November, 2008.  Well, I've got The Plot figured out to May, 2009 - again, it's just a matter of finalizing and smoothing out the edges in between...I want to post something before the end of June!!!

4.  Finally, I've also joined the comm below - I'm on team romance (hee!).  I've never participated in a land community before, so...not sure how it works, exactly.  The first challenge is up and needs to be posted by June 12th, so there'll be a little Beck/Heather snippet this weekend regardless of what happens with the other three things!!

Join fictionland !!! A land comm dedicated to fanfic and original writing! Join one of three teams (Mystery, Romance or Drama), the team names have no bearing on what you can write! Please mention who sent you.

See what I mean about being an idiot?????  :D  Oh, and that's not counting my original stuff which is sitting by the wayside right now and randomly comes out to play - usually when I least expect it... gaaaahhhh!!!!

*raises hand* If you need a beta, I'm around! I'm not terribly familiar with Jericho (outside reading your fic ;D), but I'm pretty good with grammar and spelling and story flow. Just let me know!

That would be lovely and awesome!! {{sends virtual huggles}} Thank you, thank you, thank you! :D

The beauty of this couple is that Heather was sinfully rather underutilzed, and we only had Beck for 7 episodes in season 2 - so I'm not too concerned if you aren't that familiar with Jericho.

I only have a nodding acquaintance with grammar so any help I can get on that is greatly appreciated.

Hey *waves* I saw you'd signed up to het_bigbang - me too! I think this is the first time I've participated in a panfandom big bang and there's been another Jericho writer!

Good luck with the writing!

(Also, I'd offer to beta, but I think I'm going to be struggling to find the time to even finish my own story, and I see you have another offer. Maybe another time, though?)

Hi! *waves back*

I saw you'd signed up as well and was happy to see it! I've always been interested in participating in a big bang but since I tend to write only one fandom and one pairing cough*onetrickpony*cough I wasn't always sure my fandom "fit". That and the beta reading thing always worried me. :D

I do wonder where all the Jericho fanfic writers are - for such a vocal fandom in some areas, we seem to be woefully lacking in others...or else I'm just not looking in the right places (and I haven't searched lately, either).

Thanks for the good luck wishes - good luck to you, too! (Although everything you do is to such a high quality, I have no doubt you'll hit this one out of the park without a problem. :D

No worries about the beta - I appreciate the thought. And I'll definitely keep you in mind for another time. ;D

Quotes

"All right," said Susan. "I'm not stupid. You're saying humans need...fantasies to make life bearable."

REALLY? AS IF IT WAS SOME KIND OF PINK PILL? NO. HUMANS NEED FANTASY TO BE HUMAN. TO BE THE PLACE WHERE THE FALLING ANGEL MEETS THE RISING APE.

"Tooth fairies? Hogfathers? Little --"

YES. AS PRACTICE. YOU HAVE TO START OUT LEARNING TO BELIEVE THE LITTLE LIES.

"So we can believe the big ones?"

YES. JUSTICE. MERCY. DUTY. THAT SORT OF THING.

-- Susan and Death in Hogfather by Terry Pratchett

---------------------

"And no practical definition of freedom would be complete without the freedom to take the consequences. Indeed, it is the freedom upon which all the others are based."

-- Lord Vetinari in Going Postal by Terry Pratchett

---------------------

They thought the Library was a dangerous place because of all the magical books, which was true enough, but what made it really one of the most dangerous places there could ever be was the simple fact that it was a library.

-- Guards! Guards! by Terry Pratchett

---------------------

As a wizard, it was something that Ponder had only before encountered in acorns: a tiny soundless voice which said, yes, I am but a small, green, simple object - but I dream about forests.

-- Interesting Times by Terry Pratchett

---------------------

In the 24th century, there will be no hunger. There will be no greed. And every child will know how to read.

-- Gene Roddenberry, as repeated by Jonathan Frakes in the documentary How William Shatner Changed the World

---------------------

We've got two lives, one we're given and the other one we make
And the world won't stop, and actions speak louder
Listen to your heart, and what your heart might say
Everything we got, we got the hard way.

-- Mary Chapin Carpenter, The Hard Way from the album Come On, Come On

---------------------

Cause when they own the information, oh
They can bend it all they want.

-- John Mayer, Waiting on the World to Change from the album Continuum

---------------------

Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says, "I'll try again tomorrow."

-- Mary Anne Radmacher, as seen in Uncle John's Bathroom Reader Tales to Inspire

---------------------

I never loved the soldier
Until there was a war.
Or thought about tomorrow
'til my baby hit the floor.
I only talk to God
When somebody's about to die.
I never cherished freedom
Freedom never cries.

-- Five for Fighting, Freedom Never Cries from the album Two Lights

---------------------

It may sound absurd: but don't be naive
Even heroes have the right to bleed
I may be disturbed: but won't you concede
Even heroes have the right to dream

-- Five for Fighting, Superman (It's Not Easy) from the album American Town

---------------------

Had a dream last night took a time travellin' ride
Back to my childhood where those monsters reside
They snack on innocence and dine on self-esteem
But I like to be in touch with what makes me scream
Vampires, mummies and the Holy Ghost
These are the things that terrify me the most.
No alien, psychopath or MTV host
Scares me like vampires, mummies and the Holy Ghost.

-- Jimmy Buffett, Vampires, Mummies and the Holy Ghost from the album Fruitcakes

---------------------

"I want to believe that... the dead are not lost to us. That they speak to us... as part of something greater than us - greater than any alien force. And if you and I are powerless now, I want to believe that if we listen, to what's speaking, it can give us the power to save ourselves."

-- Fox Mulder, The X-Files from the episode The Truth, pt. 2
