Random Update...

...because I have almost 30 minutes to kill before my bus gets here.  :)

Nothing really earth-shattering going on - although I have (to my horror) discovered Big Bangs and land communities.  *takes deep calming breaths*.

I'm trying to participate in two land communities and have realized I really, REALLY need to get more organized with them as I keep forgetting when challenges are due.  :(

As for the Big Bangs, I'm currently signed up for four:

hetbigbang - for which I'm writing a Heck fic.  A Heck fic, I might add, that's been trying to go off in about thirty different directions the whole time.  :(  The goal is 25,000 words; I have almost 20K but it's all over the place.  I've already had to completely remove a set of original characters and their sub-plot because (while I liked it), it had no purpose in this particular story.  :(   But that's okay, because...

angstbigbang ...I'm going to use them for this one, which also allows original stories.  :)  So, I'm currently planning on creating my own post-apocalyptic universe and writing this angsty romance story.   Then there's...

journeystory  This one also allows for original fic and I'm going to finish my 2010 NaNo novel, The Historian's Daughter (tentative title).  It's a post-post-apocalyptic novel - one that's boring as hell and WILL NOT have zombies in it!!  But I want to finish at least one original story at some point in my life!  :D  Finally, there's...

100k_supernova For this one, I'm taking my 2011 ScriptFrenzy script (A Life Less Ordinary) and making it into a (bitchin' long) novel.  I definitely can write another 100K words on that one!  LOL

Like with the land communities, I really need to get more organized since I'm not even sure (anymore) when things are due.  I at least made the mandatory check-in for hetbigbang and I think posting starts September 25th(?) but we also need to get it beta'd.  Seren had been lovely enough to volunteer to beta it for me (I'll be touching base through PM this weekend to see if that's still doable)..but I've only finally got part 1 (relatively) nailed down...and there are still three parts to go...

*does my Kermit the Frog impression then curls up in a ball and sobs quietly*

(Now if I could only find a Big Bang that would fit my 2009 NaNo novel....hmmmmm....)

For het_bigbang, we need to get the final, formatted story to the mod for 25 Sept. She'll then post them to the site she's setting up and the big reveal of all the stories is on 30 September. (Why the mod is doing it this way and making so much work for herself, rather than letting us post stuff wherever we want and then make posts with links to the stories, I have no idea....)

If you're looking for more bigbangs (and yes, they are addictive and rather good for making sure long stories get finished, aren't they?), check out the fandom calendar comm at Dreamwidth. (They have a "format: big bang" tag.) A lot of the big bangs seem to run annually, so even if you've missed one that's suitable, it may come around again.

If you're looking for more bigbangs

I think this is what's known as "enabling" - LOL.

Thank you for that lovely, tempting link. :) I didn't see anything this morning when I took a quick look through - but you never know what I might find when I have more time. :)

And thank you for reminding me of the dates for HetBigBang! I've realized I actually need a paper calendar for these things because (like with my work meetings) if I don't write 'em down, I don't remember. :(

How is your fic coming along?

Nonono - I'm just helping you move all those draft stories to published....

*cackles and enables*

How is your fic coming along?

It's moving along, but I don't think I'm going to be done by the deadline. I think I'll have a complete draft by then, but I think it needs to sit for a while before I edit it. (I'm pretty sure I'll end up dissatisfied with it in the long term if I rush the editing.) However, as the story was stuck at 6000 words for more than a year and I now have 18000 words and am pretty sure I will finish the first draft, I met my goal for signing up, which was simply to get the damn thing written at all. :-)

Hope this weekend's writing goes well for you. *sprinkles chocolate for the muses*

Aw - too bad about your fic. Although two Jericho fics in one challenge might be too much for LJ to handle! :D

Thank you for the chocolate - my muses have been happily throwing new plot developments my way all weekend...and they even almost fit the storyline!! LOL

Go you!!! I can't wait to read all of these. You can do it! Keep going!

LOL - thank you! I needed the cheerleading (and your icon is also lo-o-o-ovely...must work that picture into my Supernova....).

Now if only my bunnies would just keep moving in the right direction for my hetbigbang fic, this weekend could be very productive... :)

As a wizard, it was something that Ponder had only before encountered in acorns: a tiny soundless voice which said, yes, I am but a small, green, simple object - but I dream about forests.

We've got two lives, one we're given and the other one we make
And the world won't stop, and actions speak louder
Listen to your heart, and what your heart might say
Everything we got, we got the hard way.

Had a dream last night took a time travellin' ride
